Pig: 3 weeks (20 days)

Laadddies and Gentlemen, in this corner weighing in at a whopping 9lbs and 9 ozs and 22 inches in length, we give you Piiig Don't-Call-Me-Babyface Czachor!!

Holy cow...pig. So Pig went in for her 3 week checkup and PKU today. I was a little bit nervous. Since I've been exclusively pumping breastmilk for her, figuring out her daily intake has been tricky. It varies widely since she's now pretty much on an on-demand schedule. Sometimes she'll take 3 ozs in one sitting. In the afternoon she nibbles, an ounce here, 2 ounces there. Then at night she really starts packing it in...preparing for a long night I guess? Also, she spits up around a mouthful or so a day (she likes to guzzle her food) so wasn't sure how that would factor in as well.

Lo and behold, 9lbs 9ozs and 22 inches. Compare this with 2 weeks ago when she was 8lbs 6ozs and 21 inches. I'm so pleased, all that on breastmilk, hooray! So I'm feeling pretty happy now, my baby is thriving, all is well with the world as far as I'm concerned.

So who is Quinn at 3 weeks?
Her eyes are starting to follow us around the room. She's fascinated by light and shadows cast on the ceiling. During the day, she loves to look out the window, eyes winking against the bright sunlight. She chuckles in her sleep and will occasionally bust out into a really broad happy grin which just kills me. She's a gassy thing, would put the sun to shame. She grunts and makes little bleating goat noises when she's working on moving a particularly stubborn load of gas/poop. She burps like a champ, usually all we have to do is sit her up and she lets out a wonderful face rattling belch.

Along with a few piddling poops a day, she manages to push out one HUGE diaper saturating poop a day. Her poops are like first cousins to her burps, one shakes her face, the other her bum. We've already had one projectile poop incident. My mom happened to be the one changing her, hehe. Her eyes are like her dad's (though Papa Pig doesn't think so), they're like a blueish/grayish/brownish. Sometimes, I swear she stares right up at me and seems to recognize her old roommate. Yup, that's right kid, I'm the one who brought you all those yummy bowls of fruit that made you the whopper you are today. She's got big feet and long fingers so we won't be sharing shoes or gloves...nor clothes for that matter.

While I can't wait until she gets to an age where being awake doesn't mean she's crying, I know I'll miss these first few weeks once they're over... you never forget how you fell in love with someone, you know?
